My town of Hajdúszoboszló

I am living in a small town about fifteen or twenty minutes from Debrecen. I am going to be going to school in Debrecen and my other two families will be living in Debrecen. I am so lucky that I am living with the Máté family in Hajdúszoboszló, because I am getting the more traditional feeling of life! This town has a lot of tourism because it has the largest thermal spas in all of Europe. The people that come are not from the US though, which is awesome because speaking English is uncommon! The hotels and pools are on one side of the town while the other side is a little local city. Even though it sounds like the city would be crowed, its not, there is just the perfect amount of people hanging about! There are only a few local stores, bakeries, and several beautiful parks. The neighborhoods are peaceful and a comfortable place to be!

Futás

In Hajdúszoboszló today there was a town run! They had many events ranging from the 600 meter to the 10,000 meter! It took place in a grass field that is used as an airport for glider planes. It was really hot, 39 C and humid! I ran the 3300 meter and then got asked to run in a 3x1,000 meter relay but I girl that I met! It was a ton of fun and great to run again!

Oh yeah and I got second of all the women!!

A Week Gone By!

Wow already a week has flown by! I went to the local spas, which are huge pools similar to Glen-wood. It is nice to go swimming because it is extremely hot here! 38 C and almost 97 F! I am not really used to the humidity so I am sweating like a pig! I have also gone to a local concert which was fun and the music was very good. A famous Hungarian band called Republic played. Last Saturday was a celebration of their independence and we went to a huge festival! I have pictures of everything but my camera is being weird so I will put pictures up soon!
Other than that I have just been bonding with the family and that is turning out amazing :) Emi (my host mom) and I pick vegetables and fruit out of the garden together, as well as then cook together! The food is amazing and we have homemade soup before every meal, which I love! Dori, Lajos, Emi and I often laugh at my Hungarian as well! Speaking hungarian is very difficult, so much harder than I thought it was going to be! I can just say a few little words here and there, but hopefully I will start to pick up more of the language soon! School starts next Thursday!!

The festival had beautiful floats made of flowers (viragok)!!!

Feels like home!

It feels like the things I do here, like wear my shoes around the house and funny little things are normal. This is my third day in Hungary and I am enjoying it so much. My family is great and the three of them; Dori, Emi, and Lajos make me feel so welcome and at home!

Their house is beautiful!
