Hortobágy

Today I went with Dori, Lajos, Emi, and Emi's parents to Hortobágy! Hortobágy is a town that is on a National Preserve. It is preserving one of the largest plans in Europe. On the plan are people and animals that are from Hungary along time ago. All of the buildings on the plan are from over fifty years ago and are being used by Hungarians keeping their cultural alive. Some of the animals here are Hungarian breads and can only be found on this Preserve! There were crazy looking sheep like animals with super curly horns, dogs with dreadlocks, buffalo that could run faster than horses and even pigs with long hair! While we were there we got to see a Hungarian horseback rider who stood on the horse while they were running! And I even got to ride one of the horses!

September 9th, 10th and 11th

What a busy weekend this was! My Rotary Club here in Hungary hosted the first meeting for the exchange students in Hungary! 43 kids from around the world, that are living in different parts of Hungary this year, came together here in Debrecen. We stayed at this hostel outside of town. There almost twenty kids from Brazil, fifteen from the United States a few from Mexico, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Germany, and one from Ecuador and one from Thailand.
I came home early on Sunday morning that way I could go to another festival in Hajdúszoboszló! It was a wine festival because Hungary is famous for their wine! There was also different dancers and bands playing and lots of booths set up!

Hadjúszoboszló Celebration!

Today was the day that Hadjúszoboszló celebrates the formation of their town. To celebrate they all came together in this big field and cooked! They cooked meats, pastas and soups in huge pots over fires!! I went around and tried out all the different foods and they were delicious. There was over 175 people cooking and some people set up booths and sold things that they made!! I love Hadjúszoboszló :)

Busy as a Bee!

Wow the past few days have been go go go and action packed- which is good!  I made a new friend and her name is Zsuzsi and she speaks Hungarian and English! She is 18 years old and lives in Hadjúszoboszló. She invited me to go to a dance class for school which was amazing! I loved meeting all of her friends and learning a traditional Hungarian dance! When it was over we went to her house,         had lunch and hung out! This is Zsuzsi and I in the picture bellow!
Then Emi, Dori and I went peach picking! There was over 170 trees and they had delicious peaches! The next day was my FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IN HUNGARY!!! I don't really know how to describe it but it was one of the most difficult days I have ever had. Luckly there were some really nice kids in my class that showed where I needed to go and really helped me out. But I can say that my second day of school, today, was AMAZING!! I made tons of new friends and got to participate in my classes! In my computer class I learned how to use Excel and in my English class, everyone only spoke english! After school a bunch of people asked me to go to the mall, and I went! It was so much fun and the mall is huge! It has three floors and tons of stores! I had the best day in the whole entire world today and made some amazing friends that I think will be life long :) These are two pictures of my new friends, one of us at school and one at the mall!!
