:) On Monday, January 23 my host sister Zita, her friend and I went by train to Budapest! I was super excited and could not sit still the whole train ride! When we arrived we had some take out chines food, which was completely different from the chines food at home! There was no rice to eat the the chines with and they only offer chicken! Also no fortune cookies :( ha ha. Then we started the big tour around the city. We started at the Parliament which is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. We went on an english tour, and I learned a lot! Then we went across the Lanc Hid which is the oldest bridge in Budapest. We went from Pest to Buda and went up to the Castle!
It was amazing because there was like a little village of buildings around the castle and I had fun imagining what it was like long ago!! Soon it became dark and went to the Szabadság Szobor which is like the statue of liberty but here in Hungary. From there we watched the city glow! Since it was dark, all the lights of the city turned on and it was so beautiful! Standing out side we froze and went into a cute cafe or coffee place and warmed up. Then went to my families little apartment in Pest where we spend the night. On Tuesday we went to a bakery, got treats for breakfast and then started the day touring Pest. We went the the other castle, walked around the center,
St Stephen Basilica (the biggest church), the opera house, Heroes' square, and Margitsziget (the island). For lunch we eat at a Turkish restaurant and had gyros which is so different from at home. They have this big tall spinning piece of meat that is next to an oven that cooks it. Then when you order it they cut of pieces and put it in a tortilla with veggies and sauce and it was really good! At night we traveled back home. I had an amazing trip traveling the city and learning about all the important parts of this old but gorgeous city. I can tell you first hand that it is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I normally do not think cities are beautiful. I am planning on going back in the summer when we can picnic on the island, go to the museums and see the zoo! It was also a great trip because it was a great way to get to know my new sister and was a great bonding experience!!
I love reading your blog and SEEING all that you are experiencing! Your adventures are fabulous!!! :) Sending much love your way (sorry I don't comment more!!!)
